Just kidding. It was San Diego State. Congrats anyways...

Today I'm going to tell you a story. A story about my brother, J.
When my mom was pregnant, my dad was in the hospital for disc surgery. He was in a lot of pain, and spent a good two months in the hospital. This was an especially hard time for us as a family since he was out of work, my mom was pregnant, and we had just bought a new house. Personally, I was feeling distant from the family (I was just being your regular teenage brat).
Anyways, so during this time, my dad was having lots of visions. He kept having dreams with the number 3 - 1 - 6. Put it together, the numbers form the chapter and verse of what is probably the most famous verse from the Bible, John 3:16. As a future pastor, and devoted Christian, my father faithfully believed that these numbers were to play a key part in my brother's life. His solution: it would be his name.
When he came back home from his stay at the hospital, he told everyone ~ he's going to name our new baby brother 3-16.
Of course, everyone disregarded the strange remarks my crazy dad was saying about this poor, unborn child.
3-16? Whatever. We argued, I cried ~ this went on for about a month even after he was born.
When my brother was born, we were all in the hospital waiting area, and he made his crazy announcement again. Everyone just looked at him, with those "yeah right" expressions on their faces... But then he said... what day is it today? It was March 16. Everyone pretty much hushed up after that.
We finally all came to a compromise. My dad didn't want the name John 3:16 because then everyone would just call him John. So we settled on the letter J.
So that's it. On the birth certificate:
J Three-Sixteen Shin-shin Yi
Don't even get me started on his Korean name....
