I just got this beautiful email from an old coworker/friend. Funny how oftentimes you are saying something, and the person you're talking to just doesn't really 'hear.' But he heard, and his response really almost made me tear up. I know, I'm being sappy.
in a nutshell.... the conversation was pretty much me telling him that I missed Thailand, and I missed the feeling of doing work that really mattered. As much as I enjoy my job here, it just doesn't compare.
and this is what he wrote:
"Also, I was thinking a lot about what you were talking about last week...your trip to Thailand and how much you want to go back. Don't be too hard on yourself if you end up remaining in LA. Life is not always as flexible as we want it to be, and sometimes there are too many sacrifices to give up to totally pursue everything we want. I think the most important thing you learned from the experience is how much you enjoy being in a position where you provide help directly to an individual and get quick feedback. Whether you go back to Thailand or stay here, there are plenty of opportunities to find that type of position allowing you to provide such help."
